What we offer
Ultrasound uses sound waves to create images of the inside of the body. It does not use ionising radiation, which makes it useful for many soft-tissue, abdominal, pelvic and musculoskeletal concerns.
• Advanced equipment in a calm clinical environment.
• Appropriate clinical reporting pathway with Consultant Radiologist review or another suitably qualified reporting clinician where required.
• Clinical triage where this is needed to make sure the correct examination is requested.

Before you book
• Tell us the body area and reason for the scan.
• Upload or bring a referral letter or previous imaging report if available.

How to prepare
• Wear clothing that allows access to the area being scanned.
• Some abdominal scans require fasting.
• Some pelvic, urinary or bladder scans require a full bladder.
• Tell us if you need mobility support, an interpreter or a chaperone.
At your appointment
We will confirm your identity and the area to be scanned. You may lie on an examination couch while a small amount of gel and an ultrasound probe are used on the skin.
How long it takes
Most appointments take around 15 to 30 minutes, although complex scans can take longer.
Results and next steps
Images are reviewed and a report is returned securely to you and/or your referrer through the agreed results pathway.
